.SHORT TERM... (Sunday through Monday night) Issued at 304am EST Sat Feb 15 2025

Squall line type of feature will likely be entering interior southeast GA by Sunday Morning out ahead of a rather vigorous cold front. The squall line will be rather quick moving, moving from northwest to southeast and fully across the region by around mid afternoon on Sunday. The timing of the front will certainly be "off" with respect to potentially tapping into the best diurnal heating, and therefore instability will be rather marginal with CAPE only in the 300-500 J/kg range. In addition, the best dynamics will be lifting off to the north and east of the area Sunday and Sunday Night along with upper trough. All that being said, shear values will be rather impressive with bulk shear of 50+ knots and 0-1km shear of 30+ knots alone, so therefore any stronger segments within the squall line that manage to form will certainly have potential for gusts of 40-60+ mph as well as an isolated QLCS type of tornado.

In addition to convective induced wind gust potential, tightening gradient ahead of the front and squall line has prompted a Wind Advisory to be issued area wide during the daylight hours Sunday. Window for the highest gusts will be generally short lived and mostly just in the few hours or so leading up to the squall line, though still potential for 40 to 45 mph gusts at times area wide, especially closer to the coasts and St. Johns River.

High temps on Sunday will vary due to the timing of convection, as the squall line will likely throw off daytime heating. However, expecting generally upper 70s to low 80s south and east and low to mid 70s north and west.

Still breezy Sunday night as clearing continues with northwesterly cold air advection, though expecting to rather quickly fall below wind advisory criteria after sunset Sunday. Lows will tumble into the 40s generally from about I-10 southward and mid to upper 30s north. Expecting to remain above any freeze potential however, with too much of a northwesterly breeze for any frost potential.

Monday continues the cool and dry trend with a northerly breezy around 10 mph, a nice reminder that winter is not over yet! Highs in the upper 50s to mid 60s will be common under mostly sunny skies. Temps will fall to similar ranges Monday Night, perhaps even a few degrees lower as winds lighten up. Frost potential cannot be ruled out for parts of the interior, especially interior GA.

Long Term
(Tuesday through Friday) Issued at 304am EST Sat Feb 15 2025

High pressure ridge shifts more due north and eventually northeast of the region Tuesday and Tuesday Night ahead of the next low pressure system that will form near the western Gulf Coast on Wednesday. The low quickly moves northeastward and likely to track almost directly over the area Wednesday and Wednesday Night, bringing some beneficial rain to most or all of the region followed by another shot of cool air advection to end the week. Temperatures start near to slightly above average for Tuesday/Wednesday before falling to below climo for the end of the week.

Marine
Issued at 304am EST Sat Feb 15 2025

Warm frontal boundary lifts northward through the waters today with Small Craft Advisory conditions continuing for the offshore waters through tonight. Strong cold front will push through the waters on Sunday with gale force wind gusts expected ahead of and along a strong to severe squall line of thunderstorms and a gale watch has been posted. High pressure builds north of the waters Monday and Tuesday with decreasing winds and seas below headline levels. Next low pressure system approaches from the Gulf on Wednesday with increasing southerly winds and another round of Small Craft Advisory headlines are expected.

Rip Currents
High rip current risk continues today in the onshore flow with rough surf of 4-6 ft, likely becoming Moderate risk on Sunday as strong south to southwest flow knocks surf/breakers back down into the 2-4 ft range.
